History of Archery
Archery’s origins are quite old, being used for hunting and war, and then archery was incorporated into sports. In Asia, archery was central to cultures such as the Mongols and Japanese, and was used extensively in ancient times when warfare was conducted on a large scale.
Archery’s modern transformation began with organized competitions in England in the( 19th century).And was followed by the formation of governing bodies such as the International archery Association( USA in 1879) and the World Archery Federation in ( 1931). And then it was included in the famous sports of the world. Archery is currently included in the popular sports of the world in which the players play it skillfully and people enjoy it.
The Game of Archery
Archery is played by individuals or teams aiming to shoot a target from a concentric circle more than half the time. The main objective is to score points based on the proximity of the target to the center of the target. Players shoot it at the center. Where they get points.
Rules and Regulations
- Objective
- The aim of the players is to score more points by shooting the arrow at a known target. In archery, shooting the arrow above the red dot on the board gives full points.
- Competition Structure
- In archery, team permits are offered individually.
- Common formats in archery include elimination rounds, qualification rounds and then the final round.
- Shooting Sequence
- The number of round arrows in archery, usually three to six arrows per set. A player cannot shoot more arrows or he will be disqualified.
- The arrow is given a specific time within which it has to shoot the arrow within (40) seconds like we shoot by shooting.
- Scoring system
- The targets are marked with 10 concentrated circles in which the inner circle is 10 points of gold and the score outside is at one point.
- Aggregate scores are tallied to determine the winners. Qualified players are then given another chance. And then the final round begins.
- Distance
- In Olympic events, targets are placed at a distance of about 70 meters where the player shoots.
- Safety Rules
- In archery, players will only shoot arrows at the designated targets; otherwise it will be declared a failure.
- Participants must manage the signal before retrieving the arrows.

The length of the shooting range varies based on the type of competition. In archery, the length of the ground is 70 meters.
Olympic and World Archery Events
- In the Olympics, the ground goals are set at 70 meters.
Indoor Archery
- The distance in archery is usually 18 meters.
Field Archery
- Distances vary depending on the category of archery in each area, with choices ranging from five meters to 60 meters.

Equipped with fletching (feathers or vanes) for stabilization and a pointed tip.
